Areas of Expertise
I work as an integrative counsellor, utilising various theories and techniques in response to each individual client's needs.
These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis and a Person-centred approach.
BIO: A little about me; I have a background working with families and children, originally training as a Nursery Nurse in the 1990s. I have worked in various settings, including nurseries, children centres, hospital, healthcare and social care. Since training I have volunteered at Basildon Mind and worked with young people through Open Door, Thurrock. Alongside my own private practice I currently work for The Priory Hospital seeing both adults and young people.
The Covid-19 pandemic has pushed us all to make alterations in our lives and has impacted on ways of working. In response I completed specific (recognised by ACTO) Online and Telephone Counselling training to support the move of counselling services to virtual platforms. During lockdown I offered online/phone sessions, and this is ongoing, however I am also now able to see clients face to face within Covid-safe guidelines.
I am an Accredited Member of The National Counselling Society and Registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
I complete regular CPD training which has included working with anxiety and depression, child bereavement, self harm and suicide awareness and impact of trauma on child development.
